Let's reflect on something we all know is very important but tends to get lost in the shuffle of life's chaos—yep, you guessed it: the prayer ministry. Prayer is like a good old friend we all promise to catch up with but end up forgetting due to our busy schedules.
I had a chat with the Compassion Australia representative at our church last Sunday. In our conversation, prayer was cited as the secret in their sponsorship program. He shared a story about a teenager from Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, who was one of the famous Wild Boar soccer team rescued from a cave 5 years ago. The team was miraculously saved, and he was the only believer in the group. He was grateful to God for saving him in the hardest time and you can read his story at https://blog.compassion.com/thai-cave-rescue-life-is-bright-one-year-later/# .
Let us not forget: God, in His unfathomable mercy, is actively working to achieve His divine will for our world. Through prayer, we are not only invited but empowered to discern and align ourselves with His purpose. As 1 John 5:14 reassures us, 'This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.'
In the coming months, our moderator, Rev Chris Chan will be taking a well-deserved sabbatical. As a community, let us rally in prayer so that CPC may continue to faithfully fulfill its mission during this period. Your zealous prayers are much valued.
Moreover, please support us for our upcoming short-term mission to Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, in partnership with GO International. Eight female leaders and I will visit local multicultural churches including Chinese, Burmese and village churches and there will be opportunities to serve children. It is a coincidence that our lodgings will be in close proximity to the home church of the rescued Compassion teenager. Therefore we have scheduled to visit his church after learning about it. Let us unite our hearts in prayer, seeking the Holy Spirit's work in our lives as well as those we will come to know in the mission.
